I got this from my friend and ghost-writer Nico (vilakins) who got it from zoefruitcake by e-mail. I think it explains very well why I preferred to stay a Delta rather than take that grade upgrade to a fun-filled (ha!) life in a cube-farm. I mean, Avon's only just getting over it--five years it's taken him to get the bitterness out of his system.

In prison you spend most of your time in an 8x10 cell.
At work you spend most of your time in a 6x8 cubicle.

In prison you get three meals a day.
At work you only get a break for one meal and you pay for it.

In prison you get time off for good behaviour.
At work you get more work for good behaviour.

In prison the guard locks and unlocks all the doors for you. (Not that they had to in my case.)
At work you have to carry around a security card and open all the doors for yourself.

In prison you can watch vids and play games.
At work you get fired for watching vids and playing games.

In prison you get your own toilet.
At work you have to share with some idiot who pees on the seat.

In prison they allow your family and friends to visit.
At work you can't even speak to them.

In prison the taxpayers pay all your expenses with no work required.
At work you get to pay all the expenses to go to work--and then they deduct taxes from your salary to pay for prisoners.

In prison you spend most of your time behind bars wanting to get out.
At work you spend most of your time wanting to get out and go into bars.

In prison you have to deal with sadistic wardens.
At work they're called managers.

I printed this off in work and stuck it up in the mess room. All my colleagues that read it said we chose the wrong path or words to that effect

Mind you, at prison you can also have the hell beaten out of you; I don't think that happens in the average cube-farm. Just verbal lashings from people like Avon I suspect.
