Glorious imperfection
What would constitute a "perfect" evening for you?
One in which no-one tries to kill me?
All right, let's see. Slap-up meal with friends (which means just about everyone on this ship; makes a change). That's aperitifs, nibbles, main course, dessert with a nice late-harvest botrytised muscat, then coffee and liqueur, all accompanied by witty conversation and jokes; Federation attacks conspicuous by their absence. Then Kerril and I say goodnight and go off to our cabin. That's when the perfection really starts.
Though I suppose 'perfect' isn't really the word. You can't improve on perfection, but every time I think I can't be happier, I find it's not true.
